Password Reset¶
Your password is the thing you sign in with. It is not your PIN. If you have lost it, we send a reset link to your email address.
If you signed up with Google¶
Then you have no MISTRIX password and there is nothing to reset. You sign in with Continue with Google, and a password cannot be added to the account later. If you cannot get into that Google account any more, you cannot get into MISTRIX either, and support cannot move the account to a different sign-in.
The rest of this page is for accounts created with an email address and a password.
How to reset¶
- Open the MISTRIX sign-in screen.
- Type the email address on your account into the email field.
- Tap Forgot password?.
- Check your inbox for the reset link.
- Open the link and set a new password.
- Sign in with the new password.
The link is single-use and expires after about an hour. If it expires, ask for another one.
What does NOT happen during a password reset¶
- Your PIN is untouched. Password and PIN are independent. See PIN and Privacy.
- Your sessions, history, level, XP, Charm balance, and tier are all untouched.
- Your personal Domina(s) are untouched.
A password reset only changes how you sign in. Nothing about your account state changes.
What to do if you do not receive the email¶
- Check your spam folder. Reset mails are often filtered.
- The mail can arrive from a google.com address rather than from mistrix.ai, so search your inbox for that too.
- Confirm you typed the email address that is actually on the MISTRIX account.
- If you still see nothing, contact support. We can confirm whether an account exists for that address, but we cannot set a new password for you. The link in the email is the only way.
Changing the password without forgetting it¶
There is no form for typing the old password and a new one. Changing it uses the same reset link:
- Sign in normally.
- Open You > Privacy & Security.
- Tap Reset password. The row reads Reset email sent once it is on its way.
- Open the link in your inbox and set the new password.
What if I can't access the email account?¶
Then you cannot reset it on your own. The link is the only way, and it only ever goes to the address on the account.
Your options are:
- Recover the email account itself.
- Ask support to move your account to an address you can reach, then run the reset as normal. Support can change the address; support cannot set a password for you and cannot hand you a reset link.
- Start fresh with a new MISTRIX account on a new email. The old account will eventually stop being used; you can schedule deletion if you want it gone, but you'd need access to sign in for that.
Security note¶
A password has to be at least 8 characters. Nothing checks whether you have used it somewhere else, so pick one you do not reuse: reuse is a real risk for any account that contains sensitive data, MISTRIX included.
