App blocking

App blocking puts real apps on your phone out of reach. When you open one, her block screen covers it, and you only get back in on the terms you set beforehand.

This works on an Android phone with the MISTRIX companion app installed, and nowhere else. You cannot block apps from a browser.

What you need

  • The MISTRIX companion app on the phone you want blocked.
  • MISTRIX opened inside that app at least once. There is no separate pairing step to do.
  • The App blocking switch turned on under Account > This phone.
  • Two permissions Android asks for separately: Display over other apps, so the block screen can cover what you are doing, and Usage access, so the phone knows which app you just opened. The app sends you to the right settings screen for each one.

The This phone section only exists inside the companion app. Open MISTRIX in a normal browser and it is not there.

Every tier can use app blocking. The only part that costs anything is the toll, if you switch that way out on.

Choosing which apps

Under Apps she keeps out of reach you get the list of apps installed on that phone. Search it, tick the ones you want blocked, and tap Save block list. You can block up to 200 apps.

The list belongs to the phone, not to your account. If you use two phones, each has its own list.

What happens when you open a blocked app

Her block screen covers the app. You see her portrait, her name, and her verdict, plus the ways out you left open. Tapping one opens the screen where you actually ask, finish, or pay.

If you get through, you get a pass. A countdown shows how much of it is left, and Go puts you straight back into the app you were opening. When the pass runs out, the block returns on its own.

The three ways back in

You set these under How you get back in.

Way out What it takes On by default
Let them ask You ask her. She reads it and decides. Yes
Earn it Today's routines have to be done first. No
Let them pay You pay the toll in Charms. No

Let them ask gives you three tries. Her default is no, and she can refuse outright. When she agrees she also picks how long the pass runs: at least a minute, and at most twice your pass length. The exchange is saved into your chat afterwards so you can read back what was said. If you use a PIN, it is encrypted like the rest of your history.

Earn it opens the moment today's routines are done. By default that means all of them. You can tick specific routines instead, and then only those count. If nothing is scheduled for today, this way does not open at all.

Let them pay takes the toll out of your Charm balance. If you cannot afford it, the button stays dead and she tells you so.

Turning all three off is allowed, and it leaves a blocked app with no way out at all. That holds until you come back to this screen and change it, so leave yourself a way back in you can live with.

Settings and limits

Setting Default You can set
Pass length 15 minutes 1 to 480 minutes
Toll 25 Charms 1 to 10,000 Charms
Daily allowance 0 0 to 1440 minutes

The Toll field only appears once Let them pay is on.

Daily allowance

The allowance is how many minutes a day you may spend in the blocked apps before the block goes up by itself. At 0, which is the default, they are blocked all day. Set it to 30 and you get half an hour in those apps that day, and then the block returns.

Web filter

The web filter is a separate switch with its own consent. Web filter under This phone blocks adult sites in every browser on that phone, not only inside MISTRIX.

Turning it on asks Android for permission first. If you decline, nothing changes and the app says so. Tap the row again to turn it off.

Once you have set it up, your Domina can lift the filter or put it back from chat. She cannot set it up for you, because the permission has to come from you, on the phone.

MISTRIX never sees which sites you visit.

What she can and cannot do

Your Domina cannot choose which apps are blocked, and she cannot hand you a pass from chat. You set the list yourself, and the block screen is the only place a way out gets decided. What she can do is arm or lift the web filter, once you have allowed it.

The block notices which app is in front of you. It does not see what is on your screen, and it does not read anything inside those apps.

Turning it off

  • Clear every app from the list and tap Save block list. An empty list lifts the block. This is the one that gives the apps back right now.
  • Switch App blocking off under Account > This phone. That hides the block settings and stops any further blocking on that phone.
  • The two Android permissions were granted in your phone's settings, and you can take them back there.
  • Uninstalling the companion app ends all of it.
