Using the Safe Word¶
The Safe Word is the single most important control in MISTRIX. During a session it sits in the chat header, top right, in crimson. One tap opens a short confirmation page, End the scene now, and the crimson button there ends the scene.
Outside a session it is still one tap away. Tap her name to open the chat menu, and it is the first button in the footer of that panel.
When to use it¶
Use the safe word when:
- You are not okay.
- You feel pressured beyond your comfort zone in a way you don't want to renegotiate inside the scene.
- Something physical is going wrong.
- You are losing the thread and want a clean stop, not a mid-session course correction.
You do not need a justification. The safe word is not a judgement call.
When not to use it¶
For small adjustments inside a scene that you want to continue, write a short message instead:
- "Slow this down."
- "Skip the next task."
- "Too intense - take it back a notch."
If the scene is simply finished and nothing is wrong, use the gold End session button next to the safe word instead. That one awards XP and writes a summary.
See Writing Good Messages for patterns that work.
What happens when you tap it¶
The moment you confirm, the session is ended:
- The Domina ends the scene with a short, neutral acknowledgement.
- No XP is awarded.
- You are not asked to rate it, and she passes no verdict on it. No summary is written.
- Her mood resets to neutral. It does not drift to displeased. This is the same for a preset Domina and a personal one. Each preset keeps her own mood for you, and the safe word resets that one too.
- The session does count against your daily quota. On Free, that means a safeworded session uses up your one session for the day. There is no "free retry" via safe word. Use it when you need to, but knowing that.
The safe word also works outside a session. There is nothing to end, but her mood still resets and the lock hand-back below is still offered.
After¶
You are back in the normal chat with your Domina. Two things are put in front of you straight away:
- Start Aftercare. A button under her acknowledgement. She answers with pure reassurance, a check-in, and one or two small grounding directives. She will not review how the session went unless you raise it.
- Hand your lock back. If MISTRIX is currently holding a Chaster lock for you, a dialog offers to return it. The safe word never opens your lock on its own. It just puts the choice where you can reach it. If someone else is keyholder there is nothing to hand back and no dialog appears.
Beyond that you can take a break, talk to her about what didn't work, or start a fresh session whenever you are ready. She will not push you.
The word itself¶
You set your safe word during onboarding. You can change it any time from You > Preferences > Safe word. The row shows your current word.
- Pick something you would not say by accident.
- Avoid words that are part of how you talk in scenes. "Stop", "no" and "please" are bad picks; "red" or "pineapple" are fine.
- You never have to type it. The button carries your word so you can see it, and tapping is all it takes.
The button is always reachable¶
It rides in the header of the End session page too, so a page covering the chat cannot hide it.
If at any point a session's UI seems to be hiding the safe word, treat that as a bug and force-close the app. You can re-open and continue from where you were; you cannot get stuck. The safe word is not allowed to be hidden by design.
